Controller -Commercial Construction

Established construction contractor seeking an experienced controller to perform and supervise all internal accounting duties, tax and financial reporting, and work closely with the outside CPA. Ideal candidate will have extensive financial reporting experience in the construction industry with five plus years at the Controller level.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

– maintaining general ledgers and all supporting journals and reconciliations

– maintaining job cost records

– preparation of monthly contract status reports

– preparation of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports

– supervision of accounting department staff

– preparation of monthly sales tax returns

– preparation of quarterly and annual payroll and payroll tax return filings

– ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures

– work closely with outside CPA

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Must:

– be a self-starter and a team player

– be well organized

– have strong analytical and problem solving skills

– have excellent verbal and written communication skills

– have construction industry experience, including job costing and financial reporting

– be proficient in Microsoft Office, Timberline, Sage or construction industry specific software

– have a working knowledge of GAAP and tax reporting
